The year-old professional model is a native of Quetzaltenango. She is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in social communication and enjoys dancing flamenco. Ivana is no stranger to pageantry as she placed second runner-up at Miss Grand International pageant which was held in Thailand. The new Miss Universe Guatemala succeeds last year's titleholder Dania Guevara Morfin and will now prepare to represent her country at Miss Universe Guatemala has yet to win Miss Universe.

Thailand has been officially announced as the host country for the Miss Universe competition. Before the exciting announcement, several countries were mentioned as possible hosts including Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Spain, South Africa, Nigeria, and the Philippines. Thailand will host the prestigious pageant for the fourth time.
